Abtai Sain Xan

(1534-1586) Leader of the Xalx Mongols. In association with Altan Xan of the Tümed, Abtai (Abatai) Sain Xan of the Xalx undertook the dissemination of Buddhism in Mongolia and had constructed the monastery of Erdene Zuu, where the foundations of his immense palace-yurt remain visible to this day.

Abtai Sain Xan subjugated the Oirad Mongols through the battle of Xövxör Xeree in approximately 1577, granting the administration of Oirad Mongolia to his own son Suvdaa; but this dominion was lost upon Abtai Xan's death in 1586.

In commemoration of the legacy and teachings of
His Holiness Dulduit Danzanravzhaa
Fifth Wrathful Noble Xutagt of the Great Gobi (1803-1856)

I did not overbearingly sophize
Nor preach with pride and arrogance
But having found a sense in this world
Spoke the truth of my dear heart.
