Ulaanbaatar
Capital of Mongolia. Formerly known as "Ix Xuree", the name of the city was changed to "Ulaanbaatar" - meaning "Red Hero" - in 1924, following the proclamation of the Mongolian People's Republic. The city has a current, unofficial population of more than one million.
