Establishment of accommodations etc. in the field site; preliminary meetings with herder groups and local officials; selection of study participants.

This report is intended to be an informal summary of the initial stage of Mongolia fieldwork in Sainshand, Erdene, O'rgon, and Ulaanbadrax sums of Dornogovi aimag, undertaken as part of my research project on "Adaptive Capacity of Pastoral Resource Users in Mongolia" (AcMn). In this report I have refrained from making reference to specific households or individuals since the informed consent and recruitment process is not yet complete, and many of the comments here draw on observations outside the scope of the formal research.
